With supply teachers in demand more than ever, it seems a great career path to go down. Supply teaching gives you the flexibility of working the days you chose and can look for more work or turn it down if you have other engagements.

Supply teaching is higher paid than salaried teachers as the work is not normally guaranteed so you may have a period where you are out of work, but in my experience these are very few and far between if you are willing to be flexible and travel a little further afield.  Some teachers find that they can earn as much as working 3 or 4 days supply as they would if they were employed full time.

Another benefit is that you have the option to teach a wide range of subjects and age groups within one week and this can make the job even more interesting, it also means that you very often the lessons will already be planed for you saving you time outside the normal school hours.
